ABOUT TEEN CHALLENGE OF NEW MEXICO

THE FOUNDATIONS OF TEEN CHALLENGE

Despite our name, Teen Challenge also works extensively with adults. Most adults who arrive at our doors bring with them a tragic history of substance abuse and other life-controlling problems. At Teen Challenge, the journey to sobriety includes attention to the spiritual needs of those who seek our help.

With a focus on the practical applications of Christian teachings, adults not only learn how to change deeply entrenched, self-destructive behavior, but to discover a new identity in Christ that makes these changes possible.
Adults who come to Teen Challenge not only receive a holistic approach to recovery from life-controlling problems, but acquire a new value system that honors family, takes responsibility for community, cultivates a positive
work ethic, and helps them become productive, healthy members of society.

Teen Challenge, a proven faith-based rehabilitation program, was launched in 1958 by Pastor David Wilkerson. Now, with over 240 centers nationwide and a U.S. Government recognized cure rate of 86%, Teen Challenge relies on local community support to deliver its "Faith-Based Solution to the Drug Epidemic."

INTRODUCING OUR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

OUR MISSION IS TO HELP PEOPLE BECOME MENTALLY SOUND, EMOTIONALLY BALANCED, SOCIALLY ADJUSTED, PHYSICALLY WELL, AND SPIRITUALLY ALIVE!
Pastor Robert and his wife Tracy Marquez serve as the Executive Directors, and they have a heart for women and men trapped in cycles of addiction. Robert struggled with a 20+ year addiction with drugs until God set him free through the power of Jesus Christ at the Teen Challenge program. Tracy fought her own battles with addiction and has found victory in Christ. They both share a passion for helping others find true and lasting freedom through the power of Jesus Christ, God's transforming Word and the Teen Challenge principles.

Shortly after marrying in 2014, God made it clear to both of them that they would one day run their own Teen Challenge center. The doors opened for them to take over an established center in New Mexico after the previous directors retired. They know God's timing is perfect and are excited to pour their lives into women, and in the future men, here in New Mexico.
Pastor Robert and his wife Tracy say it is time to Refresh, Renew, and Rejoice as they and several volunteers from the community; churches local and statewide partner with them. We endeavor to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive.

Our residential discipleship centers house adult men and women free of charge to the participants and their families. We are able to offer this through our work therapy program, where individuals learn responsible work ethics and help support themselves while they are here. We also appreciate it when families can support their loved ones' stay. We ask that each participant ready to enter the program is tired of the life they have been living and ready to make a long-term commitment to the Lord and to complete the program. The individual, family, and the entire community benefit from the services provided by Teen Challenge of New Mexico.

The Teen Challenge program succeeds when all of the government programs have failed.

HISTORY OF TEEN CHALLENGE

The ministry of Teen Challenge began in 1958 when Rev. David Wilkerson, author of "The Cross and the Switchblade," went to New York City to reach teenage gang members with God's love. There in the heart of big city slums, Teen Challenge was born. Now, with over 240 centers nationwide and a U.S. Government recognized cure rate of 86%, Teen Challenge relies on local community support to deliver its "Faith-Based Solution to the Drug Epidemic." Not only teens, but adults are helped to overcome life-controlling problems mainly in the area of drug and alcohol abuse.
